Josh Lara 
Principal 

Josh Lara is excited to be the principal of Lanier Middle School. He is entering his 15th year of education, including 7 years as a special education teacher and coach and 7 years as a campus administrator. Mr. Lara is a native of Freeport, Texas, and graduated from Brazosport High School in 2003 where he was involved in football, powerlifting, baseball, newspaper, choir, and many other activities. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Academic Studies with a minor in Special Education from Sam Houston State University in 2008.  After a few years of teaching, he went back to school to earn his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2014. Mr. Lara has been married to his wife Lauren for 15 years, and she is a Special Education teacher at Bess Brannen Elementary. They are raising their 2 sons together. In his spare time, Mr. Lara enjoys spending time with his family and animals, cooking on his BBQ and griddle, running, camping and hiking, collecting vinyl records, and rooting for his Houston Astros.

Tara Belote
Assistant Principal

Ms. Belote is the Assistant Principal and takes pride in being a Lanier Lion! She is starting her 26th year in education. She began her career in Angleton ISD as a paraprofessional and then a teacher.  During her time as a teacher, she taught both 3rd and 4th grade.  After 16 1/2 years in AISD, she began her administrative responsibilities as an Assistant Principal in Columbia-Brazoria ISD. Over the past 8 1/2 years, she's held the roles of AP, Principal and District Staff Support Coordinator. She is thrilled to welcome Mr. Lara as part of her leadership team. She has been married to her husband, Donnie, for 30 years and they have one son, Bryan, and a daughter-in-law, Nicole. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, working with her cattle, being in/near the water, and photography. She believes educators play a very important role in students' lives. She feels that building relationships with students, families, and the community will aid in the growth and success of students.
